Being a Registered nursery carries a heavy responsibility; it is a role that involves sharing responsibilities with parents and their families and recognising the prime role that they play in their children’s upbringing. After all Parents and families are the experts when it comes to their own children.

Activities and Curriculum

On occasion we will observe and record your child’s development and progress and this will be shared regularly with you, the parent/s, to ensure continuity of care between home and the setting. Respect will be shown for families’ traditions and childcare practices, and our setting will be in harmony with the values, practices and wishes of parents, as far as possible in the context of caring for children from several different families. Children will only be released from the setting to individuals other than the child’s parent/s if the parent named them.

If a child is identified as a child in need (Section 17 of the Children Act 1989), the nursery, normally with the parents’ permission, gives appropriate information to referring agencies. Communication is of key importance. When we accept a new family into our nursery, we like to be sure that we can share openly any concerns or questions that may arise. We welcome questions, feedback, or discussions of any kind. Sensitive issues will be discussed outside of regular hours either by phone or meeting.

We publish a monthly e-mail newsletter that explains events that will be happening, our days off, and any other pertinent, fun or helpful information that may be of interest to you. All parents should check the newsletters or additional information sheets for important information, items you need to bring and special announcements etc.
